Damek Spacek of Berlin is a biomolecular science major and chemistry minor at Central with a 3.94 GPA. He is the recipient of the Bichum Scholarship, the Martinsen Scholarship, and is a CCSU Research Grant recipient. Spacek is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and the Biology Club. He was published in the peer reviewed journals Molecular Genetics and Metabolism and Experimental Dermatology and presented three times at the Eastern Colleges Science Conference. Spacek mentored high schools students through the CCSU High School Summer Mentors program and was a Pathways/Senderos Center student mentor. In 2009, he was named Mentor of the Year. After graduation, Spacek hopes to pursue a Ph.D in genetics.
