Supporting Education and Research

The Connecticut State University System Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that promotes, encourages and assists education and research within the Connecticut State University system. The foundation solicits donations and accepts gifts, grants and bequests to support its work.

A board of directors oversees and guides the operation of the foundation. Each director is elected to serve a three-year term. Directors are elected during the foundation's annual meeting. The foundation is governed by a set of bylaws.

Board of Directors

Robert J. Bourne, President
Mr. Bourne was appointed to the CSUS Foundation Board of Directors in 1997, and was elected to serve as the Foundationís Vice President in 2003 and President in 2009. He is Senior Legal Counsel for Northeast Utilities, and resides in Middletown.

Carole Greenbaum, Vice President
Mrs. Greenbaum was appointed to the CSUS Foundation Board of Directors in 1994, and served as President 1999≠Ė2009. She, along with her husband, are the former owners of Wayside of Milford, a corporation of ten furniture stores in Connecticut and New York which they sold in 1998. She currently resides in New Haven.

Brendan Kennedy, Treasurer
Mr. Kennedy was appointed to serve on the CSUS Foundation Board of Directors in 1985. He was elected to serve as the Foundationís Treasurer in 2007. He is the Managing Partner of the government relations firm Camilliere, Cloud & Kennedy, and resides in New Britain.

Margaret Morton, Secretary
Ms. Morton was appointed to the CSUS Foundation Board of Directors in 2004, and was elected to serve as the Foundationís Secretary in 2009. She is Vice President of Government Affairs for Northeast Utilities, and resides in Middletown.

Richard Balducci, CSUS BOT Rep.
Mr. Balducci was appointed to the CSUS Board of Trustees (BOT) in 1995, and has been appointed to serve as the Boardís representative to the Foundation annually since that time. He is Vice President of the government relations firm Doyle, DíAmore and Balducci. Previously, he served two decades as a state legislator, including Speaker of the House for two terms. He is an alumnus of Central Connecticut State University, and currently resides in Deep River.

Brian Johnson, Faculty Rep.
Mr. Johnson was appointed to the CSUS Foundation Board of Directors in 2008 for a two-year term. He currently serves as Professor of English and President of the Faculty Senate at Southern Connecticut State University. He resides in Cheshire.

James A. Frost
Dr. Frost is Chancellor Emeritus of the Connecticut State University System, having led the system from 1972 through 1985. During the course of a distinguished career in higher education, he served in capacities including Vice Chancellor of the State University of New York and is a highly regarded scholar and administrator. He has authored or co-authored seven books and contributed articles to numerous publications and encyclopedias. He was instrumental in bringing together the three founding members of the CSUS Foundation, and served as President through 1999. He resides in Simsbury.
